notice of motion
An announcement, either oral or written, of an intention to present a motion at a subsequent sitting. Depending on the type of motion and who is moving it, the notice period varies.
A notice under Private Members' Business concerning a motion for papers for which a debate is desired either by the Member giving notice or by a minister of the Crown.
